Milano Design Week & Ceramic Roman Oil Lamps

Good day everyone! It has been so nice to see my studio grow and the community that is gradually developing. It gives me such joy to see people and children creating and especially those who come into the studio feeling as if they are not creative by nature, only to see them find it and surprise themselves during a workshop or lesson! Thank you all!
I'm happy to announce that Friday I will hold a workshop on Ceramic Roman oil lamps. What will this entail? This past week I have recreated some plaster moulds of Roman oil lamps that I made, in part on the potters wheel and in part hand-building. The idea is to have a master press-mould to recreate or make reproductions that will be available for sale AND to hold workshops in which you can customise your own! For this week's workshops for Design Week, you can REGISTER HERE!
Step one: You will receive you untrimmed, freshly moulded oil lamp, your job is to trim and smooth out the edges.
Step two: Add decorations using various techniques; sculpture, slip-trailing and carving.
Step three: Puncture the holes into the spout and center.
The lamps will then be fired and ready for pickup or delivery with a wick, and instructions for care and burning!
KIDS ART LESSON: Sunday, April 13
Sunday 15:00-17:00 - the kids will create their own ceramic pinch-pot versions of Roman Oil Lamps, while enjoying a merenda. Likewise, when their lamps are finished they will get instructions and a wick, so that you can use their lamps at home! We will also finish up on in-progress work, especially painting pieces that have been bisque-fired and are waiting for glaze! WhatsApp: 375 643 3401 to reserve your child's spot!
